When dcStat was originally set up, the plan
was to attempt to use Google advertisements to pay for hosting
costs. That doesn't seem to be working the greatest...so...I've
included a donation link in case people would like to help
cover server costs.
Common questions:
1) How much does it cost to run
the site?
In addition to my own time in creating and running the site,
it's current costs are around $100 per year. Depending on
how popular dcStat grows, running costs may increase as server
load increases.
2) How much do people typically
donate?
I'd prefer not to say - donations are more then welcome in
any amount.
3) Do we get anything for donating?
As of now, you simply get the good feeling that comes from
helping keep the site alive and running (so I guess the answer
is no). If time permits in the future, I may add the option
of allowing individuals who have donated to include graphics
in their statbars, or some other feature that currently isn't
being offered, though my priority at the moment is getting
the projects that are still listed as "coming soon"
added.
